dcWorkout Android App PDF Print E-mail

dc Workout IconAfter trying several different workout programs for the Droid, we noticed that none quite worked the way we wanted. We got the impression that most of these programmers have never even seen a gym, let alone tried to use an app on their phone while wearing workout gloves and sweating.  There were several problems: overly complicated programs, tiny buttons, difficult data entry, etc. Small buttons and lots of fancy screens with way too many options sound great to developers and look shiny and impressive sitting in a conference room, but in the gym, they're just in the way of what you really need, which is a simple app that works.

dc Workout Android AppSo we set out to make a simple workout tracker. The dcWorkout Android app is just that; it's simple and it works. We've got simply layouts, never more than 4 buttons on a screen. Everything you need to click on is large and well spaced, large buttons and big select boxes. That makes it easy to do what you need to do without having to squint or try and click some tiny input field with your fingernail. You create a workout, add exercises and then you can see the results. It comes with some basic workout types already loaded, but you can edit those and add other exercise types as well.

So go ahead, keep sweating and start clicking. Then you'll have all your workouts at your fingertips so you can focus on your workout, not your phone.

UPDATE:

We have now launched the dc Workout Android App as a free beta in the Android Market. We're releasing it early (and for free) to get some end-user feedback on the app. If you have any comments, suggestions, questions or complaints, please post them as comments to this article.

As always, if you've enjoyed using this app, please consider donating using the PayPal button on the left hand side of the screen.

Thanks,
